Collection Recommendations: Books & Journals

The Library welcomes recommendations in support of clinical care, research, and educational programs at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. With the 2014 relocation of the Library's physical collection (see BOOK AND JOURNAL RELOCATION UPDATE), the Library's primary collection emphasis is now on the provision of digital access to information. New resources will be considered only if the items can be acquired in electronic format. Additional consideration will be given to the following criteria:

  • Electronic availability of the requested material (e.g., electronic journals, electronic books, online databases, streaming video, etc.)
  • Relevance to UT Southwestern programs and justification of need
  • Campus priorities
  • Potential audience
  • Collection balance, gaps, uniqueness
  • Resource quality
  • Site license terms
  • Shared purchasing opportunities
  • Resource cost
  • Status of the Library's collection budget
